Whanau Ora

In very simple terms, Whānau Ora relates to the wellbeing of Whānau. Whānau Ora is determined by each whānau in relation to their own circumstances. Whānau Ora is an inclusive approach to providing services and opportunities to Whānau. Whānau Ora empowers families as a whole, taking into account wider influences that impact upon wellbeing.

Prevention and early detection of poor health, along with effective screening will ensure whānau stay well, while community based whānau ora programmes will support whānau when they are unwell.

Whānau Ora Nurses work alongside Kaiārahi Oranga (Whānau Ora Coordinator) and Kaimanaaki (Whānau Ora Assistants) to ensure that those who engage have access to quality information & resources to support them to determine their own wellbeing.
