TE ROHE - Locality

Our locality is depicted by the Mōteatea “Ka Hoki nei au” which acknowledges the tribal boundaries of Te Whānau-a-Apanui, Ngai Tai, Te Whakatōhea me Ngai Tūhoe.

The Rohe and its People

The Te Moana-a-Toi (Bay of Plenty) region was the landing point of several waka including Mataatua, Nukutere, Tākitimu, Arawa and Tainui. Many of the descendent iwi maintain their rohe in the region,

including Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Te Whakatōhea, Ngāi Tai, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau, Te Arawa, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui and Ngāti Pūkenga.
